I’m dead against over vaccinating pets, but recently we had the opportunity of introducing Myla our Boxer to Agility training, whipped swiftly from under us, as her vaccinations were not up to date!

So I’ve been looking into things a little more deeply re vaccinations looking for alternative treatment etc and I think I may have Myla vaccinated again. She’s now 21 months old and has only received her puppy vaccines and no further booster, which I’ve read (along with much conflicting advice) is recommended at 15 months then every 3 yrs as a way to avoid over immunization.

In this document written by Mark Elliot for Holistic/Homeopathic Veterinary Care, he states that if you let the vaccine lapse the good news is that the World Small Animal Guidelines clearly state that a single booster will bring your pet back up to speed. There is no need to start a course again, in fact the guidelines describe doing so as, in effect, immunological nonsense.
Although when I spoke to the PDSA this morning re Myla’s booster injections, I was told that because her vaccination has lapsed by more than 3 months Myla will have to have the full course, which I’m a little upset about. I wonder if my local vet has the same advice? I would much prefer Myla to have a single booster.
